Traveling the Firmament

Dear friends:  May Christ dwell in your hearts, through faith, and may love be the root and foundation of your life. Thus you will be able to grasp fully, with all the holy ones, the breadth and length and the height and depth of Christ’s love. And experience this love which surpasses all knowledge, so that you may attain to the fullness of God Himself. Eph 3: 17-19.

I wish I could explain fully the BIG BANG and the creation of millions and zillions of all kinds of energies, light and all that is in space, but they say the whole thing happened in a microsecond... I wish you had been in the balcony when God in heaven, and let you behold what took place in a millonésima de Segundo… creation of the matter for so many millions of galaxies and zillions of stars.

In the beginning was the Word and the Word was in God’s presence and the Word was God. He was present to God in the beginning and through Him all things came into existence. Whatever came to be in him found life and light. John 1: 1-5

Can you imagine how great the universe is? Imagine you take an airplane like one in the movies.  Have everything in it, because you want to go from one end of the firmament to the other. Take food and water. You will not find any Burger King. You begin the trip on January the 1st 2009. Ok?  The speed of our airplane is 300,000 kilometer per second.

The God who made this firmament we know sent His own Son to this little earth in the year 1. His Son told us lots of things about His Father. He told us that we should call Him “Our Father.” He said many things about His Father.

You have found in your trip so many secrets. Do you know how many galaxies you will see? In 1995 they turned the Hubble into a section of the heaven, where they thought there was nothing; it was a very little corner of the firmament. They found more than 3,000 Galaxies.  Imagine how many in the whole firmament, billions. Did you know that each one has million of stars? You cross them. Some are so great, some so beautiful.

You realize on the way that the maker of all this infinite number of stars, put His own Son on the Cross for you!  By the way, if you go from one end of the firmament to the other, on this fast airplane, it will only take you 47 billion light years!

This God, the maker of all this great firmament, created the Catholic Church. And the most fantastic thing is that He came with His Son and the Holy Spirit and baptized you and me and many more.  And with them He makes the Catholic Church. He wanted you to be on His team.

As you can see, He does not need you, much less me. Yet He likes us to do some work for Him because He wants to give us His own, HIS OWN home to live with Him for ever and ever and ever.

In the masses I have in my hands the God: who one day turned on the switch that ignited the big, big, big, big, big indescribable, whatever you want to call it, something so big, with so much energy and power.  If I were you I would be His most intimate friend; I would be His best, best, best partner in His creation.  Remember, He only needs your work so He can glorify you.

Dream, dream, dream!
